A law firm seeks an experienced patent prosecution attorney to join its dynamic team in Wilmington, DE. This remote role requires a strong candidate who can effectively prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications, contributing significantly to the firm's success and the protection of clients' intellectual property rights.

Duties

  • Prepare and file patent applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (U.S.P.T.O.), responding to office actions and coordinating with clients throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with inventors and clients to gather necessary information and develop strong patent strategies.
  • Conduct thorough prior art searches and analyses to inform patentability assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent law and regulations to provide informed guidance to clients.
  • Contribute to the firm’s intellectual property initiatives and participate in team discussions regarding strategy and best practices.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S.P.T.O.
  • A technical background in engineering, physics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in a state bar and registration with the U.S.P.T.O.
