Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Minneapolis, MN, is looking to hire a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling felony and misdemeanor cases for both adults and juveniles and must possess a strong understanding of family law procedures and criminal litigation. This position offers a dynamic work environment where the attorney will be involved in all stages of legal proceedings, from research and document preparation to negotiating and representing clients in court.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in felony and misdemeanor criminal defense cases across the state, including appeals, Orders for Protection (OFP), Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO), fair hearings, professional licensing hearings, and child protection matters.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Attorney on federal court criminal litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, memorandums, and discovery requests.
  • Interview witnesses to gather evidence and strengthen case arguments.
  • Maintain and organize case files and supporting documents.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, potential clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Manage scheduling and appointments.
  • Attend court hearings and represent clients in litigation, mediation, and settlement discussions.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • 2-5 years of prior experience as a criminal defense attorney.
  • Extensive knowledge of criminal defense law and procedures.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cases, including family law-related criminal matters.
  • Proficient in legal research and document preparation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks efficiently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Minnesota.

Skills:
