A law firm seeks a dynamic and compassionate Immigration Associate Attorney to join its growing practice in Laredo, Texas. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of immigration law. Duties

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel to prospective and existing clients regarding immigration matters.
  • Represent clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in cases involving adjustment of status, naturalization, and family or employment-based interviews.
  • Prepare and file applications, petitions, and supporting documentation, including Green Card applications, waivers, asylum applications, and SIJS petitions.
  • Handle visa applications for consular processing and provide representation in related matters.
  • Advocate for clients in removal proceedings before EOIR Immigration Courts.
  • Represent clients in hearings before Circuit Courts in SIJS or related cases.
  • Conduct client consultations, prepare declarations, and assist with gathering evidence to strengthen cases.
  • Prepare filings before the Department of Labor for PERM matters and draft employment-based visa applications.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, affidavits, and responses to USCIS or court inquiries.
  • Utilize and maintain a web-based immigration case management system accurately.
  • Supervise and mentor paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Stay informed about changes in immigration legislation and procedures.
  • Participate in public speaking engagements and seminars organized by the firm.
  • Be open to assisting with estate planning and probate matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on family-based immigration, removal defense, and humanitarian-based cases.
  • Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state (Maryland preferred).
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proficiency with case management systems (e.g., INS Zoom) and office productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Docs.
  • Ability to handle a high case volume and meet strict deadlines.
  • Eagerness to secure and build client relationships.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States and in good standing with the bar.
