Duties

  • Represent clients in collections matters, including civil litigation related to debt recovery.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including motions and pleadings.
  • Handle courtroom appearances, including motion practice and trial preparation.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys to develop case strategies and client solutions.
  • Provide excellent client service, maintaining clear communication and addressing client needs.
  • Manage caseload efficiently, meeting deadlines and handling a high volume of work.
  • Stay current on legal developments and changes in collections law.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in Virginia and in good standing (Maryland or North Carolina licensure is a plus).
  • Civil litigation experience in Virginia, preferably in collections or related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with clients and courts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with legal technology and case management systems.
  • Courtroom experience, including both motion practice and trial experience, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of debt collection practices is highly desired.
  • A collaborative and positive work ethic, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in Virginia is required (Maryland or North Carolina admission is a plus).
