Job Duties

  • Assist with patent preparation and prosecution related to software, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients, inventors, and in-house counsel to develop intellectual property strategies.
  • Conduct prior art searches, freedom-to-operate analyses, and patent landscape reviews.
  • Prepare patent applications and responses to office actions from the USPTO and international patent offices.
  • Advise clients on patentability, infringement risks, and strategies for protecting their innovations.
  • Stay updated on relevant technology trends, patent laws, and changes in intellectual property regulations.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys and technical professionals in the drafting and prosecution of patents.
  • Participate in client meetings to understand their business goals and translate them into strong patent portfolios.
  • Conduct patent infringement analysis and provide technical support for litigation when necessary.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • JD and admission to the USPTO are required.
  • Experience with technologies such as:
    • Software-related technologies.
    • Artificial intelligence technologies.
    • IoT (Internet of Things), networking, and related technologies.
    • Quantum technologies.
  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Certifications

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • State Bar admission (Florida preferred but not required).
