A law firm in Orange, CA, is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their dedicated Immigration Team. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of immigration law experience, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of managing a caseload effectively. This role involves representing clients in various immigration proceedings, preparing diverse applications, and collaborating with law enforcement and community organizations.

Duties:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage a caseload, including client interactions.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Develop and present strategic solutions for clients based on immigration law concepts.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony, including developing case strategies.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify possible case benefits.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.
  • Use case management software to track and manage case progress.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar where the firm operates.
  • 1-4 years of immigration law experience.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy and courtroom skills.
  • High interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience with case management software preferred.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic solutions for complex immigration matters.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
