Duties:

  • Represent clients in patent prosecution, litigation, and related matters in various technical fields, including electrical engineering, software, and mechanical engineering.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Provide strategic advice to clients regarding patent portfolios, intellectual property rights, and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with senior partners to develop and execute litigation strategies.
  • Assist clients in patent litigation cases, including preparing legal documents, taking depositions, and appearing in court.
  • Engage in client interactions, ensuring timely communication and legal support.
  • Stay current on industry trends, new regulations, and legal precedents related to patent law.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of patent prosecution experience, including application drafting.
  • A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Admission to the Alabama State Bar.
  • Registration with the USPTO as a Patent Attorney or Agent.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Experience with other intellectual property matters is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or related technical fields.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Alabama.
  • Registered with the USPTO.

  • Expertise in patent prosecution and litigation.
