Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel in corporate and transactional matters for nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, and small businesses

  • Guide and oversee teams of attorneys on pro bono projects

  • Collaborate with legal aid organizations to develop legal clinics and partnership models

  • Build and maintain knowledge resources for pro bono practice areas

  • Track, report, and assess outcomes and progress of ongoing matters across multiple offices

  • Identify and vet potential new pro bono opportunities, including collaborative efforts with corporate clients

  • Contribute to firm-wide strategies for promoting pro bono engagement

  • Support risk management and assist with summer associate involvement in pro bono work

  • Monitor legal and policy developments relevant to transactional and nonprofit law

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing in corporate or transactional law

  • Demonstrated experience advising tax-exempt organizations and/or mission-driven startups

  • Familiarity working with diverse communities and across various cultural contexts

  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating cross-office initiatives

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to lead legal teams and contribute to program development

  • A strong sense of professional purpose aligned with social impact and public interest law

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar

Skills:

  • Legal expertise in corporate governance, nonprofit law, and small business support

  • Strategic thinking and program development experience

  • Clear, compassionate communicator with high emotional intelligence

  • Proficiency in project and team management

  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability
