Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a motivated Civil Rights Associate Attorney to join its team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to advocate for individuals whose rights have been violated. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and a strong intellectual curiosity, with an interest in shaping and advancing civil rights case law.
Location:
Farmington, UT
Duties:
Screen potential civil rights cases, including conducting in-depth legal research to assess their merits
Participate in civil rights litigation from inception to resolution, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and researching, writing, and arguing complex motions
Take and defend depositions, and make court appearances as needed
Work with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals
Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal team members on case strategy and development
Requirements:
2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in civil rights, constitutional law, and trial experience
Strong research and legal writing skills, with emphasis on complex motions and case law development
Experience in handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals
A deep interest in civil rights advocacy and the intellectual curiosity to engage with case law development
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law
Skills:
Strong legal research and writing abilities
Experience in civil rights or constitutional law
Proven ability to manage complex legal cases from start to finish
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
