A law firm seeks an Affordable Housing Associate Attorney for their Washington, DC office.

Job Overview: The Affordable Housing Associate Attorney will primarily provide legal counsel and support in matters related to HUD affordable housing, low-income housing tax credit, and similar programs. The successful candidate will assist in navigating complex regulatory frameworks and providing strategic guidance to clients in the affordable housing sector.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis about affordable housing laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to affordable housing transactions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of affordable housing financing structures.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, hearings, and negotiations with governmental agencies.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on compliance issues related to affordable housing programs.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex affordable housing transactions and projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law with a focus on affordable housing, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Strong understanding of HUD affordable housing programs, low-income housing tax credits, and related regulations.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Admitted to the Bar in the District of Columbia or eligible for admission by motion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Certification in affordable housing law or related field.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of real estate finance and transactional law is a plus.
