Duties:

  • Manage a municipal law caseload, including zoning, planning, and general municipal matters
  • Represent town and village boards, zoning boards, and planning boards
  • Handle related litigation work, including defending municipalities in various legal proceedings
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and paralegals to provide effective legal services
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, court clerks, vendors, and outside counsel
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents, including pleadings and motions
  • Advise clients on municipal law matters and provide strategic counsel

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in New York (in good standing)
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in municipal law, specifically with town, village, zoning, or planning boards
  • Litigation experience defending municipalities is a plus
  • Excellent oral communication, negotiation, legal research, and writing skills
  • Strong ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to live in or relocate to the Lower Hudson Valley
  • Passion for practicing municipal law

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
