A law firm in New Orleans is seeking a Lateral Offshore Energy and Maritime Associate Attorney.

 

Job Overview:

The Lateral Offshore Energy and Maritime Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload, representing clients in offshore contract disputes, maritime matters, and civil litigation. They should possess strong academic credentials, exceptional research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills, and be capable of independently handling cases from inception to resolution.

 

Duties:

  • Independently manage a caseload from beginning to end
  • Regularly handle court appearances and depositions
  • Take the lead in client communication and provide meaningful updates
  • Handle a variety of civil litigation cases, including maritime disputes, personal injury claims, property damage, and environmental issues
  • Advise clients on complex maritime and energy-related legal matters, including operations, shipping regulations, marine insurance, and environmental regulations
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings, such as hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, advocating for their interests in maritime and civil litigation matters
  • Prior experience with claims falling under General Maritime Law and the Jones Act is required

 

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience representing companies in offshore contract disputes and maritime litigation, including USCG investigations and Jones Act claims
  • Current State Bar license required; attorneys licensed outside of Louisiana who desire to relocate back to the state and practice in New Orleans are encouraged to apply

 

Education & Certifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
