Job Title: Employee Benefits Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm located in Cincinnati, OH, is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience working with employee benefits, ERISA, and executive compensation matters. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of employee benefit plans, including those related to retirement, welfare, executive compensation, and more.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on a variety of employee benefit matters, including the design and administration of retirement plans (both defined contribution and defined benefit), employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), welfare benefit plans, and executive compensation programs.
  • Draft and review plan documents, policies, and compliance materials.
  • Support clients on mergers and acquisitions, including addressing benefits issues that arise during corporate transactions.
  • Advise clients on ERISA, tax law, and other regulations relevant to employee benefit plans.
  • Assist with dispute resolution and controversy matters related to employee benefits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop strategic solutions and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Handle client relationships, including regular communication and updates on ongoing matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in ERISA, employee benefits law, or executive compensation.
  • Proven expertise in ESOP transactions and advising existing ESOPs.
  • Strong understanding of ERISA, tax law, and related legal frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal projects and provide high-level advice to clients.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the state of Ohio or willing to apply for admission.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Detail-oriented with strong drafting and communication skills.
