The attorney will manage a diverse caseload, representing clients in complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels. The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal counsel, conduct thorough legal research, and effectively advocate for clients in court.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of criminal defense matters from inception to resolution.
  • Advise clients on legal rights and strategize on the best course of action for their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings, trials, and other court appearances on behalf of clients.
  • Draft legal documents, motions, and pleadings necessary for case proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to determine potential case outcomes.
  • Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare clients for depositions and trials.
  • Communicate case progress and strategy effectively with clients and internal team members.
  • Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors and argue motions in court when necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish required to effectively communicate with clients and witnesses.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all client communications and interactions.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar; additional admissions in neighboring states preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience practicing criminal defense law, with a proven track record of handling complex cases.
  • Strong courtroom presence and experience conducting trials independently.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
