Litigation Attorney

A law firm in Prairie Village, KS, is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving client objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research and analysis on issues relevant to litigation cases.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Propound and respond to discovery requests.
• Meet with clients to discuss case details and provide legal advice.
• Make court appearances to argue motions and attend case management conferences.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Actively manage case files, including maintaining deadlines and ensuring compliance with court rules.
• Maintain regular and direct communication with clients regarding case status and strategy.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.
• 3+ years of experience in litigation, preferably with a focus on civil litigation.
• Proven ability to handle a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Strong oral advocacy and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with electronic discovery and litigation technology.
• Familiarity with local court rules and procedures.
• Previous experience in conducting depositions and arguing motions in court.
