Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a highly skilled Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney to join their reputable Patent Practice Group. This role will focus on electrical engineering and software or mechanical patent teams, where the candidate will play a key role in providing expert legal guidance on patent matters, including drafting applications and handling litigation cases.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in patent prosecution and litigation matters, ensuring the protection of their intellectual property.
  • Draft and file patent applications, providing expert advice on patentability, infringement, and enforcement.
  • Manage and guide clients through complex patent disputes, both in court and before the USPTO.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of patent laws, regulations, and case law.
  • Review and assess potential infringements and offer litigation strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in intellectual property law.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, particularly application drafting.
  • Strong understanding of patent law, with experience in both prosecution and litigation.
  • Must be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Barred in North Carolina.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to convey complex legal concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Education:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a closely related technical field.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered with the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Exceptional research and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in legal documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
