A law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Attorney, the Immigration Attorney will manage a caseload, engage in client interactions, and work closely with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in immigration law and a passion for providing effective legal solutions in immigration matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage a caseload of immigration cases.
  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Handle a workload of cases, ensuring timely progress and resolution.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers to gather necessary information.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on updates and changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations to determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and prepare legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Preferably bilingual (Spanish).
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Professional demeanor with a client-focused approach.
  • Proficiency with case management software is a plus.
