A law firm is seeking a Mid to Senior Labor and Employment Counsel Attorney to join their team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in counseling employers on various employment law issues, including medical leaves, disciplinary actions, wage and hour issues, and terminations. Experience with public entity clients or charter schools is a plus. The candidate should be adept at independently researching and analyzing employment law issues and have strong writing, verbal, analytical, and research skills. California Bar admission and excellent academic credentials are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Counseling: Provide expert legal advice and counsel to employers on a range of employment law issues, including medical leaves, accommodations, disciplinary actions, wage and hour matters, and terminations.
  • Policy Drafting: Draft and review employment policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to address complex employment law issues and anticipate client needs.
  • Client Interaction: Maintain and build client relationships, offering strategic guidance and support on employment law matters.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve employment-related disputes, including those related to disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Public Entity Clients: Work with public entity clients and charter schools, providing tailored legal advice and solutions.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in labor and employment law, with experience counseling on medical leaves, accommodations, disciplinary actions, wage and hour issues, and terminations.
  • Bar Admission: Admitted to practice law in California.
  • Skills:
    • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical and research abilities.
    • Ability to independently research and analyze complex employment law issues.
    • Experience drafting employment policies, procedures, and agreements.
    • Ability to anticipate and address client needs effectively.
    • Experience with public entity clients or charter schools is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Membership in good standing with the California Bar.

Skills:

  • Experience with counseling employers on a range of employment law issues.
