A law firm is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney with expertise in public agency law to join its San Diego office. This role involves providing comprehensive counsel to public school districts and other public agencies throughout California, addressing a wide range of labor and employment issues. The ideal candidate has over five years of experience and a strong interest in advocating for educational institutions and public agencies.

Duties

  • Advise public agencies on labor and employment matters, including employee hiring, contract drafting, and compliance.
  • Represent clients in cases involving collective bargaining, contract grievances, discrimination, retaliation, and misconduct.
  • Handle cases related to employee discipline, layoffs, and dismissals.
  • Conduct administrative hearings and provide legal support in litigation as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop strategies for complex labor and employment issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with a focus on public agency or education law preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar, in good standing.
