Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to biomedical and engineering technologies
  • Conduct patentability searches and draft legal opinions
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and protect their intellectual property portfolios
  • Advise clients on patent strategy and intellectual property matters
  • Draft responses to office actions and prepare documents for patent filings
  • Stay current with advancements in relevant technologies and intellectual property law

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Experience in preparing and prosecuting patents
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property law related to biomedical and engineering fields

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration Number (highly preferred, or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam)

Skills:

  • Strong technical understanding of biomedical and engineering concepts
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Strong communication and client management abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on high-quality work
