A law firm seeks an experienced Attorney to join its downtown Chicago office, focusing on nursing home defense, medical malpractice, and general litigation. This full-time, in-office position is ideal for an attorney with strong litigation skills and 2-5 years of experience, looking to work in a defense-oriented setting. Attendance in the office is required to collaborate effectively with the team and provide high-quality service to clients.

Duties:

  • Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Manage the discovery process, including issuing and responding to written discovery, administering depositions, and document review.
  • Conduct depositions and summarize findings for case preparation.
  • Represent clients in court appearances and negotiate settlements when appropriate.
  • Perform thorough legal research to support case strategy and development.
  • Communicate complex legal information clearly to clients and team members, tailoring language for various levels of expertise.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high standards of service and confidentiality.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in litigation, preferably in nursing home defense, medical malpractice, or general litigation.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, handling depositions, and making court appearances.
  • Familiarity with billing software and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize work effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
