An established law firm based in Hattiesburg, MS, is seeking a full-time Attorney with an opportunity to work on an existing portfolio of cases, primarily focused on civil litigation and insurance defense. This role offers the potential for growth into a shareholding partnership. Ideal candidates should have strong communication skills, be well-organized, and motivated to develop new business relationships.

Duties:

  • Handle multiple legal matters across various types of law, with a primary focus on insurance defense.
  • Manage cases involving premises liability, auto accidents, construction defects, commercial disputes, and wills and estates.
  • Oversee minor settlements and wrongful death approvals.
  • Conduct civil litigation from start to finish, including pleadings, written discovery, claim analysis, client reporting, depositions, and trials.
  • Maintain a full schedule, including hearings, depositions, and court conferences.
  • Collaborate effectively with staff under the direction of a supervising attorney.
  • Ensure adherence to billing standards and maintain daily time entries.
  • Develop and establish relationships with new clients.

Requirements:

  • Experience in civil litigation (preferred but not required).
  • Connections to Hattiesburg or the Pine Belt area are encouraged.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Commitment to professional growth and leadership within the firm.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Active Member of The Mississippi Bar.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Mississippi.
