Biometric Privacy (BIPA) and Complex Class Actions Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Complex Class Action & Biometric Privacy practice group in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience and an interest in working on cutting-edge issues related to the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide clients with BIPA-related counseling and compliance advice, as well as defend technology providers and employers in complex class action litigation.

Location:

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel to clients on Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) compliance and related tech privacy matters.
• Defend technology providers and employers in BIPA class action lawsuits.
• Conduct legal research, prepare motions, and draft other legal documents.
• Assist with case strategy and management of complex class action litigation.
• Interact with clients directly, offering practical legal solutions and advice.
• Work collaboratively with senior attorneys to develop strategies for case resolution.
• Participate in depositions, hearings, and trial preparation as necessary.
• Stay updated on changes in biometric privacy laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2+ years of legal experience, ideally with a focus on class actions and/or privacy law.
• Familiarity with the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and related privacy regulations.
• Experience handling complex litigation, especially class action lawsuits, is preferred.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across practice groups.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar of Illinois.

Skills:

• Knowledge of BIPA and biometric privacy law.
• Experience with class action litigation and legal procedures.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to interact directly with clients and offer strategic legal advice.
• Proficiency in legal research and case management software.
