Duties

  • Handle all phases of criminal defense cases including investigation, negotiation, litigation, and trial

  • Prepare and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence

  • Represent clients in court at various proceedings including pre-trial, trial, and sentencing

  • Collaborate with legal team to develop and execute defense strategies

  • Maintain frequent and effective communication with clients

  • Attend professional legal conferences and maintain current legal knowledge

  • Meet and exceed billable hour requirements (minimum of 32 hours per week)

Requirements

  • Experience in criminal defense (adult and juvenile cases; felonies and misdemeanors)

  • Familiarity with case strategy, motion practice, discovery, and sentencing advocacy

  • Experience in courtroom proceedings including trial preparation and litigation

  • Strong commitment to upholding constitutional rights and advocating for justice

  • Comfortable working in a cloud-based legal environment

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar

  • Valid license to practice law in the state of Michigan
