Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a motivated Civil Rights Associate Attorney to advocate for individuals whose rights have been violated. Location:

  • Vancouver, WA

Duties:

  • Screen potential civil rights cases, conducting in-depth legal research to assess their merits

  • Participate in litigation for civil rights cases from inception to resolution

  • Draft and prepare pleadings, manage discovery, and research, write, and argue complex motions

  • Take and defend depositions and attend court appearances as necessary

  • Work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal team members on case strategy and development

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience, with preference for civil rights or constitutional law and trial experience

  • Strong research and legal writing skills, particularly in complex motions and case law development

  • Experience handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals

  • A deep interest in civil rights advocacy and case law development

  • Passion for justice and advancing civil rights through litigation

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills

  • Expertise in civil rights or constitutional law

  • Experience with depositions, court hearings, and appeals
