Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a motivated Civil Rights Associate Attorney to advocate for individuals whose rights have been violated. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful civil rights litigation, with a focus on shaping and advancing civil rights case law. The ideal candidate will possess litigation experience and a passion for justice, with a strong intellectual curiosity.
Location:
Vancouver, WA
Duties:
Screen potential civil rights cases, conducting in-depth legal research to assess their merits
Participate in litigation for civil rights cases from inception to resolution
Draft and prepare pleadings, manage discovery, and research, write, and argue complex motions
Take and defend depositions and attend court appearances as necessary
Work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals
Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal team members on case strategy and development
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Active license to practice law
2-5 years of litigation experience, with preference for civil rights or constitutional law and trial experience
Strong research and legal writing skills, particularly in complex motions and case law development
Experience handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals
A deep interest in civil rights advocacy and case law development
Passion for justice and advancing civil rights through litigation
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
