A law firm in Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with expertise in patent prosecution and a strong background in managing intellectual property portfolios and transactions. The ideal candidate should have a Juris Doctorate degree, be admitted to the USPTO, and be licensed to practice law in Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Oregon, or New Jersey.

 

Duties:

  • Evaluate and manage patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios for clients.
  • Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate strategic commercial agreements related to IP, such as collaborations, licensing, outsourcing, and joint venture agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on IP-related issues and disputes.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one of the following states: Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Oregon, or New Jersey.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably within the life sciences industry.
  • Familiarity with technology transactions involving IP rights.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
