A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly experienced Government Contracts Attorney. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in advising clients on government contracts compliance, risk assessments, and security clearance matters. This role involves providing comprehensive legal guidance on various aspects of government contracts and supporting transactional activities involving government contracts and security clearance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on all aspects of government contracts compliance, including NISPOM, FAR/DFARS provisions, cost accounting standards, and SAM registration/renewal.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate compliance and regulatory risks associated with government contracts.
  • Handle matters concerning security clearances, including data handling procedures, foreign ownership, control and influence (FOCI), and interactions with the Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency (DCSA) and Cognizable Security Agencies (CSAs).
  • Support transactional activities involving government contracts and security clearance issues, including post-acquisition requirements.
  • Provide counsel on CFIUS matters and registration and notification requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and provide detailed legal analysis on government contracts and compliance issues.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to government contracts.
  • Represent clients in disputes and litigation related to government contracts and compliance issues.
  • Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and legal trends in government contracts and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction where hired.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in government contracts law and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of NISPOM, FAR/DFARS provisions, cost accounting standards, and SAM registration/renewal.
  • Experience with CFIUS matters and registration and notification requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate compliance and regulatory risks.
  • Experience handling matters concerning security clearances, including data handling procedures and FOCI issues.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction where hired.
