Job Overview: A law firm in Hauppauge, NY, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice to injured, legal plan members, handle pre-litigation and litigation processes, and strive to maximize case value through strategic legal analysis and client-focused service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephone advice to injured legal plan members to protect their rights and qualify potential cases.
  • Conduct client intakes both in and out of the office.
  • Investigate accident scenes, obtain photographs, and interview witnesses to gather evidence for claims.
  • Maintain frequent client contact to update them on case status and ensure complete and up-to-date client files.
  • Prepare cases for pre-litigation settlement.
  • Perform legal analysis of facts and law to develop winning strategies.
  • Negotiate with adjusters and defense attorneys.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Argue motions and appear for court conferences.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties and non-party witnesses.
  • Handle mediations and arbitrations, including preparing ADR packages.
  • Conduct jury selections and trials.
  • Utilize the firm’s case management system to review files, enter file notes, and assign tasks to support staff.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing personal injury attorney.
  • Proven trial experience.
  • Juris Doctor Degree with admission to the NYS Bar.
  • Federal Bar admission and experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel within the New York Metropolitan Area and occasionally in upstate counties.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Federal Bar admission (preferred but not required).
