Tax & Estate Planning Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Tax & Estate Planning Associate to join its Salt Lake City office. This role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of tax and estate planning matters, including non-profits, corporate and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, and international tax. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of law firm experience and will be highly motivated, with strong academic credentials and a commitment to ethics.

Duties

• Handle a variety of tax and estate planning matters, including corporate and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, international tax, and non-profit organizations.

• Provide tax-related advice to clients and assist with corporate structuring, tax planning, and estate planning.

• Draft and review tax documents, agreements, and filings.

• Research complex tax laws and provide legal opinions.

• Work independently with minimal supervision, while collaborating with senior attorneys and clients as needed.

• Assist with managing client relationships and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a law firm setting, specifically in tax and estate planning.

• Experience in one or more of the following practice areas: non-profits, corporate and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, or international tax.

• LL.M. in tax is a plus, but not required.

• Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills.

• Must be a member of the Utah Bar or willing to take the Utah Bar exam (if currently a member of the Bar in another U.S. state).

• Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively manage a variety of tasks.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Must be a member of the Utah Bar, or eligible to take the Utah Bar exam.

• LL.M. in Taxation (preferred but not required).

Skills

• Expertise in tax law, estate planning, and corporate structuring.

• Strong research and analytical skills.

• Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.

• Excellent drafting skills for tax documents, agreements, and filings.
