Job Title: Patent Prosecution And Litigation Patent Agent

Job Location: Boston, MA

Job Overview:
A leading law firm is actively seeking a skilled Patent Agent with experience in patent prosecution and litigation. This position will focus on either the Electrical Engineering & Software team or the Mechanical team within the firm’s dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation practice. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of patent law, strong technical expertise in electrical or mechanical engineering, and a desire to contribute to high-profile intellectual property matters.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the electrical engineering, software, and/or mechanical fields.
  • Provide legal support for patent litigation, including preparing filings and assisting with case strategy.
  • Perform patentability searches and analyses to evaluate potential intellectual property risks.
  • Work closely with clients to provide strategic guidance on patent portfolios and IP protection.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the firm to address complex IP matters.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including application drafting and patent office interactions.
  • A strong technical background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a closely related field.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear legal arguments.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related technical field is required.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is mandatory.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.
  • Strong technical analysis capabilities in electrical or mechanical fields.
  • Ability to manage complex patent portfolios and provide strategic IP advice.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
