Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Family Law Attorney to join its growing team. The position involves representing clients in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, prenuptial agreements, alimony, and domestic violence. The ideal candidate will have experience handling sensitive legal issues and maintaining composure in emotionally charged situations, while effectively negotiating and advocating for clients' best interests.

Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of family law cases.
  • Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
  • Maintain client files to ensure organization and timely updates.
  • Communicate effectively with senior partners and paralegals to move cases through the civil litigation process.
  • Analyze legal situations, understand client needs, and create strategic plans of action to resolve issues.
  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and negotiations related to family law matters.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in family law, including matters related to divorce, child custody, and marital property division.
  • Ability to represent both plaintiff and defendant sides in family law cases.
  • Member in good standing with the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Experience with real estate law as it pertains to determining marital property is essential.
  • Prior experience in criminal justice or other legal fields is a plus.
  • Strong ability to negotiate and advocate for clients in high-stress situations.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 4-year undergraduate degree with a legal background is required.

Certifications:

  • Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and resolve legal disputes.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
