A law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its Bethesda, MD office. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of relevant civil litigation experience, including clerkship experience, and be skilled in handling discovery and trial preparation. Experience with federal rules or comparable state rules is essential. Candidates should possess strong research and writing skills and have a background in areas such as real estate title litigation, mortgage regulatory litigation, construction litigation, loan purchase disputes, or contested foreclosure litigation. A VA, MD, or DC Bar license is required, with clerkship and bankruptcy experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle all phases of commercial litigation, including discovery, trial preparation, and court appearances.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Manage case files and ensure all documentation is accurate and organized.
  • Develop and execute case strategies in consultation with clients and senior attorneys.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings and participate in settlement negotiations.
  • Work with experts and other team members to gather and analyze evidence.
  • Stay updated on developments in relevant areas of commercial litigation, including federal rules and state-specific regulations.
  • Provide clear and effective legal advice to clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active VA, MD, or DC Bar license.
  • 2+ years of relevant civil litigation experience, including clerkship, in areas such as real estate title litigation, mortgage regulatory litigation, construction litigation, loan purchase disputes, and/or contested foreclosure litigation.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Experience handling discovery and trial preparation under federal rules or comparable state rules.
  • Clerkship and bankruptcy experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
