Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their Government Enforcement and Investigations team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in handling criminal cases, investigations, and government enforcement actions, with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to manage complex legal matters.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in government enforcement and investigative matters, including criminal and civil cases.
  • Assist with defending clients in enforcement actions, including those related to the False Claims Act.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel and manage investigations, ensuring effective legal representation.
  • Draft legal documents such as briefs, motions, and reports in support of ongoing cases.
  • Engage in direct communication with clients, government agencies, and opposing parties to negotiate favorable outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively within a legal team, ensuring efficient case handling and adherence to deadlines.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support the firm’s litigation strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in criminal law, government enforcement actions, or white-collar defense.
  • Proven background in handling criminal cases, both investigations and defense, including government enforcement actions.
  • Strong experience with the False Claims Act matters is highly valued.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues for various audiences.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus but not required.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Washington, DC (or eligibility to obtain DC licensure).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal research abilities.
  • Expertise in criminal law, investigations, and government enforcement actions.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, including motions and briefs.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
