Project Development Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a talented Project Development Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development. The ideal candidate will possess a background in project development within the renewable energy or oil & gas sectors, or extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of renewable and conventional energy projects, including wind, solar, LNG, and nuclear.
• Negotiate and draft engineering, procurement, and construction agreements (EPC), operations and maintenance agreements (O&M), equipment procurement agreements, and other development contracts.
• Stay updated on industry trends and changes in project development and finance law.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and colleagues in specialty areas such as tax, regulatory, and real estate.
• Handle high-profile projects in renewable energy, energy storage, and power generation technologies.
• Provide representative experience to clients in the renewable energy market, focusing on project development, procurement, construction, and project finance transactions.
• Utilize law firm project finance experience, preferably in a sophisticated national law firm environment.

Requirements:

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Illinois Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
• 3-6 years of experience in project development, construction law, or related fields.
• Proven ability to negotiate and draft EPC, O&M, and equipment procurement agreements.
• Familiarity with renewable energy project finance is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
