Litigation Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense

Job Overview

A Texas-based law firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Associate with at least 3 years of practical litigation experience to join its Insurance Defense practice group in the Houston (Galleria area) office. This position offers the opportunity to take an active role in high-volume insurance litigation, including trials, motion practice, and discovery. Ideal candidates are organized, collaborative, and capable of managing a fast-paced caseload with minimal supervision.

Duties

• Handle all aspects of litigation including pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, and trials

• Assist in preparing and arguing motions, including dispositive motions

• Manage client communication and case strategy development

• Collaborate with partners and team members to ensure effective litigation management

• Travel as needed for depositions, court appearances, and client meetings

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of practical litigation experience

• Prior experience in insurance defense or jury trials preferred

• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently

• Willingness to travel within Texas, including by air

• Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach

• Team-focused mindset with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of Texas

• Proficient in legal research, drafting, and courtroom advocacy

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines efficiently
