The successful candidate will work with a diverse range of technologies, including software, AI, IoT, and quantum technologies, focusing on product design and user interface innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities with a focus on product design and user interface technologies.
  • Collaborate with inventors and clients to understand and document technical innovations.
  • Draft, review, and file patent applications for various technologies, including software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.
  • Conduct patent searches, analyze prior art, and provide legal opinions on patentability.
  • Manage and oversee patent prosecution, including responses to office actions and patent examinations.
  • Communicate with the USPTO and international patent offices on patent matters.
  • Collaborate with legal teams on patent strategy, including patent portfolio management.
  • Advise clients on intellectual property strategy, including patent landscape analysis and IP due diligence.
  • Stay up to date with developments in patent law, particularly in emerging technologies.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Strong academic background in physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Proven experience in patent drafting and prosecuting applications for software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, or quantum technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Superb writing and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in law firm settings and with corporate clients in the engineering or tech sectors.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with software-related technologies, AI, IoT, and quantum technology patent applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to grasp and communicate complex technical concepts.
