Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to clients regarding their rights and case-related documentation.
  • Represent clients at pretrial hearings and advise on optimal strategies after each hearing.
  • Prepare for and attend court appearances, draft motions, and conduct witness interviews.
  • Perform legal research and analyze case precedents to predict potential outcomes.
  • Gather and organize evidence to strengthen clients' cases or counter prosecution claims.
  • Strategize case goals, prepare clients for depositions, and consult with witnesses and experts.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently and maintain high standards of legal representation.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated passion for criminal defense through internships, volunteer work, or law school clinics.
  • Admitted to practice law with a Juris Doctorate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in managing legal cases and keeping them on track.
  • Familiarity with case management software (preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in California.
