Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors to identify and develop patentable inventions.
  • Research existing patents to support clients' applications and avoid infringement issues.
  • Draft patent applications with guidance from the patent team.
  • Monitor the patent application process from initial filing through to the granting of the patent, ensuring deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Perform ability searches regularly to support patentability assessments.
  • Address client challenges and provide solutions promptly.
  • Respond to office actions and communicate effectively with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Meet or exceed required billable hours.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering; Master’s or PhD preferred.
  • USPTO Registration required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in patent law; 2+ years preferred.
  • Experience or educational background in electrical engineering or biotechnology.
