A law firm seeks a mid-level Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its team in New York. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in employment law and will contribute significantly to both litigation and counseling services. Duties:

  • Handle employment litigation cases, including discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and trade secret misappropriation claims.
  • Counsel clients on a variety of employment matters, including employee discipline, termination, policy creation, wage and hour issues, and restrictive covenants.
  • Assist clients with internal investigations related to employment practices and compliance issues.
  • Manage employment-related litigation from discovery through trial, drafting legal motions, including discovery motions, motions to dismiss, and summary judgment.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, including witness preparation and document review.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys on complex matters, while managing individual projects and responsibilities.
  • Provide high-quality legal research and analysis, advising clients on the best strategies for employment-related challenges.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering practical legal advice on a range of employment issues.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in employment litigation and counseling, with a focus on discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour issues, and employee rights.
  • Experience handling discovery, drafting motions, and participating in depositions.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and collaborate within a team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Superior research and analytical abilities, with the capacity to manage complex legal matters.
  • Experience with internal investigations and employment contract issues is a plus.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership with the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of employment law, including litigation, compliance, and workplace issues.
  • Strong project management skills, with an ability to work independently and within a team.
  • High level of proficiency in legal writing, research, and communication.
  • Ability to handle sensitive client matters with discretion and professionalism.
