A law firm in San Diego, CA, is seeking a motivated Student Services and Disabilities Associate Attorney to provide essential support to senior associates, of counsel, and partners in the Student Services and Disabilities Law Practice Group (SSDLPG).

Job Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis related to student services and disabilities law.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents including memoranda, briefs, contracts, and educational policies.
  • Support negotiations, mediations, and dispute resolutions involving educational institutions, students, and parents.
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and prepare for administrative hearings and litigation.
  • Attend client meetings and hearings, and represent clients in administrative proceedings as needed.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing timely and responsive legal advice and support.
  • Stay updated on developments in student services law, disabilities law, and educational regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience practicing in student services, disabilities law, or a related field.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certification or coursework in education law, disabilities law, or related areas is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a meticulous approach to work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document preparation.
