Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a junior-level Bankruptcy Associate with 2+ years of experience to join its Bankruptcy team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in bankruptcy law, advising secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, and other parties-in-interest. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex matters, including commercial real estate disputes, foreclosures, and finance transactions, in a supportive, dynamic team environment.

Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Advise and represent secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, and other parties in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters.

  • Focus on real estate-related bankruptcy and litigation, including commercial foreclosures and receivership proceedings.

  • Draft and negotiate loan documents and other transaction-related documents.

  • Perform due diligence review in finance transactions.

  • Work closely with partners on complex finance transactions and related litigation.

  • Contribute to the growth and support of the bankruptcy practice through teamwork and collaboration.

  • Provide high-level drafting and writing support for bankruptcy-related matters.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of bankruptcy experience, with a strong understanding of creditors' rights and related litigation.

  • Exposure to advising secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, and other parties-in-interest.

  • Interest and willingness to learn about complex commercial real estate disputes and finance transactions.

  • Strong writing, drafting, and communication skills.

  • Highly motivated, team-oriented with the ambition to help grow the practice.

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to practice in the jurisdiction.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of the office where the candidate will be based.

Skills:

  • Strong background in bankruptcy law, creditors’ rights, and related litigation.

  • Experience in drafting and negotiating complex loan and transaction documents.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
