Job Overview: A law firm seeks a dedicated Litigation Attorney to represent healthcare providers and physicians in malpractice lawsuits and board investigations. The ideal candidate will excel in independent and collaborative work environments, possess exceptional research and analytical skills, and be adept at managing complex cases.

Duties:

  • Represent healthcare providers and physicians in medical malpractice lawsuits and board investigations.
  • Independently manage litigation cases from inception through resolution.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Take depositions, conduct oral arguments, and present evidence in court.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Provide high-quality client service and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and ensure comprehensive case management.
  • Meet critical deadlines and manage court dates effectively.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents related to healthcare litigation and medical malpractice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia.
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience; healthcare litigation or medical malpractice defense experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases and independently meet critical deadlines and court dates.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to providing the highest level of client service.
  • Experience in state and federal courts in Virginia.
  • Experience depositing, conducting oral arguments, and presenting evidence in court.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia.

Skills:

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
