A law firm seeks a skilled Small Business Litigation & Transactional Lawyer to join its team in Wichita, KS. This role is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about representing small businesses through various legal avenues, including transactional work, conflict resolution, and litigation. The firm prides itself on building lasting client relationships and providing comprehensive legal support.

Duties

  • Handle transactional matters for small businesses, such as drafting LLC documents, customer and employee contracts, and reviewing vendor contracts and business sale agreements.
  • Manage conflict-driven cases that are not yet in litigation, including breach of contract disputes and business "divorces."
  • Represent clients in litigation cases, effectively advocating for their interests in court.
  • Foster client relationships, transitioning to a role akin to outside general counsel over time.
  • Ensure work-life balance by maintaining billing expectations of 6 hours per day, contributing to a total of 1,380 hours annually.

Requirements

  • Proven litigation experience is essential; experience in business law is a plus, but candidates from other specialties such as insurance defense, collections, or family law are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage client expectations and interactions.
  • Self-discipline and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt are critical for success in this role.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
