Job Overview
A law firm seeks a skilled Employment Law Associate to join its team in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have experience handling employment-related litigation, providing legal counsel on workplace compliance matters, and assisting with the development of employment policies and agreements. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with a team of legal professionals dedicated to representing employers across a wide range of industries.

Duties

  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation, including matters involving discrimination, leave policies, wage and hour disputes, non-compete agreements, and contract breaches.

  • Advise employers on workplace compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Draft employment-related documents, including policies, employee handbooks, contracts, and separation agreements.

  • Conduct internal investigations into workplace disputes and compliance concerns.

  • Provide training to employers on best practices for employment compliance and workplace policies.

  • Handle matters before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies.

  • Collaborate with legal teams to develop strategic solutions for clients facing complex employment challenges.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in employment law.

  • Proven ability to handle employment litigation in both state and federal courts.

  • Strong background in advising employers on compliance and risk management strategies.

  • Experience drafting a wide range of employment-related agreements and policies.

  • Ability to conduct internal workplace investigations and provide comprehensive reports.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

  • Effective case management and organizational skills.

  • Experience with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is a plus.
