Job Overview:

This role involves advising prominent nonprofits on tax, transactional, and regulatory matters, including public charities, private foundations, healthcare systems, universities, trade associations, and social welfare organizations.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on multiple areas of tax law and tax-exempt organizations.
  • Assist with transactional planning, corporate governance, and estate planning.
  • Conduct significant research and writing, demonstrating effective communication skills.
  • Manage complex workloads while prioritizing tasks and anticipating issues.
  • Collaborate with a national team to serve clients efficiently.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of law firm experience in tax law and tax-exempt organizations.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent professional references.
  • Strong academic record with a preference for candidates with an LL.M.
  • Admitted to practice law in D.C. or eligible for waiver.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; LL.M. preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C. or eligible to waive in.

Skills:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong research and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
