Job Overview:

A law firm in San Francisco is seeking a skilled and motivated Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team. The successful candidate will bring expertise in patent law, have experience with patent litigation procedures, and possess strong technical knowledge. This role requires excellent legal research and writing skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will handle complex litigation matters and contribute to the firm’s growing intellectual property practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle all phases of patent litigation, including case assessment, discovery, trial preparation, and trial.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents related to patent disputes.
  • Conduct and manage all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, and taking and defending depositions.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies, working closely with clients and senior attorneys.
  • Perform complex legal research and provide in-depth legal analysis on intellectual property law, patent infringement, and validity issues.
  • Attend court hearings, oral arguments, and trials as needed.
  • Collaborate with experts, clients, and internal teams to develop case strategies and technical arguments.
  • Analyze patent portfolios, patent claims, and technical documents to assess case strengths and weaknesses.
  • Advise clients on patent enforcement, protection, and litigation strategy.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in patent litigation.
  • Admission to the California Bar.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. patent law, including patent prosecution and litigation procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple patent litigation cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present arguments and negotiate resolutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California Bar (required).
  • A degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle complex legal issues.
