Civil Litigation/Insurance Defense Attorney

A law firm in Dallas, TX is seeking a Civil Litigation/Insurance Defense Attorney with 4+ years of experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in insurance defense, specifically in personal injury, product liability, and premises liability cases. They should possess excellent advocacy and negotiation skills, with proficiency in analyzing complex legal issues and applying procedural and substantive laws.

Job Duties:

• Represent clients in insurance defense matters, primarily involving personal injury, product liability, and premises liability cases.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
• Prepare for court appearances, depositions, and settlement conferences.
• Assess cases for liability, damages, and settlement value.
• Manage case files from intake to resolution, including client reporting, billing, and budgeting.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Conduct depositions of witnesses and experts.
• Maintain communication with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.
• Meet or exceed monthly billable hour goals set by the firm.
• Occasionally travel for court appearances, client meetings, and depositions.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing.
• 4+ years of experience practicing civil litigation with a focus on insurance defense.
• Strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law, federal and state rules.
• Effective oral and written advocacy skills.
• Exceptional research, writing, and briefing skills.
• Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
