A law firm seeks an entry-level Immigration Attorney to join their growing team in San Antonio, Texas. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent law school graduate or attorney with limited immigration law experience to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior attorneys, manage a caseload, and assist clients with a variety of immigration matters.

Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance on immigration matters, including explaining key concepts and strategic options.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage assigned cases and maintain organized client records.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare immigration petitions, including family-based cases and removal defense.
  • Review and modify immigration application packets to ensure compliance and completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial agencies, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss their immigration needs and determine the appropriate legal strategy.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and other documentation for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law, or relevant internship experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, EOIR cases, Detained cases, Humanitarian issues, Citizenship, and USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Texas State Bar.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
