Job Title: Senior Commercial Attorney

Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Attorney to join its global Risk team. This role involves working on complex client-facing contracts, providing strategic legal guidance, and collaborating across various departments to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will bring a practical approach to making risk-based judgments and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate client-facing contracts, covering sectors such as data privacy, intellectual property, and technology.
  • Ensure firm contracts meet regulatory, ethical, and internal policy standards.
  • Identify and assess risks in client contracts, offering solutions that align with business goals.
  • Advise firm partners on client contractual needs and commercial requests.
  • Draft and manage templates, agreements, and other external communications.
  • Support compliance and risk-related audits, managing responses and ensuring alignment with firm policies.
  • Enhance the efficiency of the global Risk team’s commercial legal support, including mentoring junior attorneys.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Finance, Business Development, and Information Security.
  • Supervise and work closely with administrative staff within the Risk team.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a top-tier law firm or in-house legal role, preferably with experience in a general counsel’s office.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional client-facing abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent judgment, able to make quick, risk-based decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-evolving environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications and Skills

  • Active Bar membership in good standing.
  • Proficiency in legal research and contract management tools.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills.
