Job Overview:
An established law firm in Orange, CA, is seeking a skilled Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will manage post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and other related matters, while working closely with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Location:

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents for post-conviction relief cases.
  • Handle post-conviction relief matters, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce, and early termination of probation.
  • Attend motion hearings and provide strategic advice to clients following hearings.
  • Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing, as assigned by other criminal attorneys within the firm.
  • Manage court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and conduct legal research.
  • Analyze case outcomes based on legal precedents and client-specific circumstances.
  • Manage a caseload and ensure that all deadlines are met.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice to clients regarding case benefits and options.

Requirements:

  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law is required.
  • Familiarity with handling criminal cases at the state and local levels.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and assist in case strategy.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a client-centered approach.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of post-conviction relief processes, including motions to vacate and expungements.
  • Experience with criminal defense or immigration law.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client advocacy skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and manage competing priorities.
